Finally Works!

Hallelujah!!! After almost 48 hours of registry tweaks, searching forums and registry keys, it turned out that my router, a Netgear MR814 v2, had a newer firmware version.

Stupid of me not to try this first. Firmware release notes also mentioned a compatibility issue with Intel Centrino...should have guessed that it might be extended to other processors (I believe Cingular 8125 / HTC Wizards are powered by TI).

Well, I wasted maybe 24 man-hours of tests/tweaks, but I sure have learned a lot about the SDIO adapter's registry keys. If anyone needs to know what they do, let me know.

So if anyone is having problems connecting via wifi, and when you try to connect it seems like information is being passed (e.g., WEP security doesn't give you an error or it simply looks like it's about to connect but drops), then it might be a compatibility issue with your router.

Especially when you've tried almost every other option, such as filling in the IP address, DNS, etc. Good thing there are only so many options you can try on the adapter end of it.

Also helps if you can establish a connection with another router. Good thing I could connect to someone else's wifi in my neighborhood as a control case.
