Medion PocketPC MDPPC250 MD41800 | | I bought one of these in the UK when they came out in May 2004, courtesy of Aldi Stores. GBP269.00 or so.
I've found it perfect for my needs... the GPS is adequate for the amount of times I use it... it's great and when not in the car, it's like having an electronic A-Z of UK and Ireland in your hand... but when patched up through the speakers in the car I've found it invaluable if trying to commute/find somewhere for the first time.
The nicest thing about it is the Storage Card - I've got about 50-60 mp3s on one 256kb MMC and again patched through my speakers, does away with all those cassette tapes or CD cases. I'm now looking for a 1GB MMC but not sure if it'll work in the MD41800 (I've emailed Medion.co.uk for clarification on this).
By the way, I found the little pouchy thing it came with a bit flimsy and not robust enough. (It kept activating itself whilst in my handbag, being knocked about etc) So I purchased an aluminium case from a guy on ebay for about GBP16.00 or so, the one that fits a HP 1710/1715 fits the Medion MD41800 very well and it has 2 MMC storage slots. It's super! No more accidental activation.
It also has the Word, Excel cababilities in Pocket PC form. The Calendar, Contacts and Games facility is adequate for my needs. It also has the ActiveSync which when docked will sync up to my PC.
The Microsoft Reader is handy for d/loading Foreign Language dictioneries for use when abroad.
For me, the Medion is a good piece of kit, my only real gripe is that it is without Bluetooth or wireless capability which if it had that, would make Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger accessible on the move but otherwise, for the price I paid... it's perfect. I would recommend it. |
