USB active sync problems: IPAQ - not recognized, Dell - fine | | Hello,
All of a sudden, a few weeks ago I started having the "USB device not recognized" problem with my IPAQ 5555 recently. I am sure you either ehard or ran into this ANNOYING message before.
There was a solution - serial cable. I was still able to sync my info and transfer files, although VERY slowly. But it is still not aceptable. This happens at work and at home, on XP latest SP installed and on unpatched XP, with Activesync 3.7, 3.7.1, 3.8... uninstall, reboot, reinstall, remove USB device from Device Manager, powered USB Vs. not powered... tried everything that I could find on the net. NO LUCK.
Enter the Dell X30 and x50v.... WORKS LIKE A DREAM. Same exact verison Activesync recognizes both devices on both machines (PCs running XP).
What gives? I am completely stuck at this point and have no clue what to try next. Again, I tried all versions of Activesync, complete reinstalls, different machines... And the fact that the other PPCs sync just fine hints that it is probably something other then USB.
Any thoughts?
Thanks! |
