Spring is here, which means that birds are chirping, flowers are blooming and most likely your memory on your Pocket PC is full.
If you find yourself running low on memory these days, it is quite possible you've got junk hidden around in your device that you very seldom if ever use. This weeks tip will show you how to use the basic file explorer and uncover these hidden memory hogs and give them a swift kick -- off of your Pocket PC!

It is mainly geared toward people who surf the web and check email on their Pocket PCs, however even if you don't you can save some space too...
*editor's note: Although this is a safe procedure, it does involve the deletion of files. We cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss of data. Please backup before performing these tasks.
To start out this walk-through, why don't we find out how much memory currently have? It is not crucial to do step 1, but it's fun to find out if we are really recovering memory.
Step 1: Go to Start>settings>[System Tab]>Memory and record or make a mental note of how much memory you have free.
Step2: Launch File Explorer
Step 3: Delete the GACLOG under My Device
Step 4: Delete PkCtrlSv
Step 5: While you are there, open your Temp folder and delete anything in there
Step 6: Step 6 involves thoroughly cleaning your Web Cached files. Some will argue that you can do this from the Pocket IE Tools menu, but I have found that method is not 100% reliable. One time in particular I had 7 MB of temp IE files in there that would not delete via the IE tools menu.
So, navigate to your Windows>Profiles Directory
Step 7: Open the Guest Folder
Step 8: Open the Temporary Internet Files Directory.
Step 9: Open the Content.IE folder
Step 10: Delete any folders and files in there. You may see an error when trying to delete the index file just ignore it and go on.
Step 11: Use the navigator drop-down to go back to your Windows folder.
Step 12: Open and clear out your Temporary Internet folder in your Windows directory.
Step 13: Lastly, let's go check our email for deleted items we may not have cleared.
Step 14: Launch Inbox and go to the tools menu and choose Empty Deleted Items for each of your Mailboxes.
Step 15: Now that you've gone through all the steps, go back to the memory control panel and see how much memory you've recovered. In this example, I was able to recover over 4 MB!

If you have any Spring Cleaning tips, please post them to this thread. And let us know how much memory YOU recovered!
