One cool use for GPS...

My favorite use for GPS is to map, create, and exchange hiking and mountain bike trails and favorite road bike rides. I take my GPS along on my excursions, and then download the routes to local (PC) software which superimposes the route onto an aerial and/or topographic map. Then, when I'm on the road and looking for a place to go, I can download routes from other folks who've done the same.
If you want an example of what I mean, there's an online service (it's a pay service, but you can look at the demo) that facilitates this...it will work with GPS data from the Pharos unit I've got for my HP2215...see it at www.endlesspursuit.com.
But what I'm really hoping will emerge is a a free national database of routes - a cooperative effort where folks share their favorite outdoor adventures...
