Just to confirm, when you hard reset your device, it wiped out ALL of your data right? A hard reset will bring your device back to factory settings. When you brought it back up you would have had to readjust the screen, copy and paste an appointment for practice, re-enter your owner info, etc. If you didn't have to do this stuff, then you only soft reset it.
If you were successful in hard resetting, you might want to download the latest drivers if you haven't already. If you've done that, is it possible that you could return it for service or replacement?
Even though it's a headache now, I think it can be fixed one way or another.
