Issue #1,
Yes, this is a hassle. The way I recommend you work around it is get the latest and greatest runtime files and then NEVER update them with other programs. When a program says "xxxxx runtime is already installed, do you want to update it with this one?" choose no to all and go about your merry way.
Issue 2
Make sure you go to File>exit or close to exit out of speed reader plus. If you are using a task manager, it will mess up your bookmarks.
Hope this helps,

Does anyone know of any of the following issues?
Are there any fixes out there, or planned?
Should I be doing something diferent?
Issue #1:
The RUNTIME and CONTROL files appear to be Uninstalled, and I cannot run the program without a reinstall of the files.
When I reinstall the PPC displays that the files are installed.
This usually occurs after I uninstall another application.
This is not a big issue if I am near a PC (at work) and can reinstall, but if I am not near a PC I cannot use the application until I get to a PC.
Is there a way to protect these files from uninstall or overwrite?
Issue #2
For some unknown reason, the bookmark of a book I am reason would appear to be ereased.
Example: I will be reading a book and be about 1/2 way through Part 6 of 18. I close the application for awhile.
When I open the book again, I am at the beginning of Part 1.
Any help.
Thanks
